Drunkenness is condemned. Drinking is NOT. Paul suggested that Timothy (1Timothy 5:23) “Stop drinking only water. If your stomach is upset, drink a little wine. It can also help the other sicknesses you often have.”

Oh, please. You must be joking. First, learn how to spell alcohol. Second, let’s play a game.

Jesus turned water into _____?

Think about the verse – have you ever been led astray by beer? many have.

I think the Bible is against getting trashed or drunk or hammered, or anything that affects the choices you make

Jesus drank wine. He turned water into wine. He used wine to be the symbol of the blood he shed. So God can’t be against wine itself, probably just the misuse.

U have to put a scripture in context. Jesus Christ’ first miracle was turning water into wine, and it was used at most meals in those days. However, drunkeness is condemned many times and obviously this verse describes how too much alcohol can affect someone.

Discourages getting drunk, yes. But some wine in moderation i think is acceptable in the Bible.

Jesus’ first miracle was to turn water into wine. I think Jesus loved a good party. To get tipsy? Absolutely not.
Wine then has a much lower alchohol content than todays wine.
The typical passover feast had four servings of wine. There was plenty of food so they weren’t drinking on an empty stomach. And again the wine was essentially watered down, compared to todays wine.
This doesn’t run contrary to your Proverbs verse – don’t be LED by wine. In fact, don’t be LED – be held captive by or addicted to – by anything.
Paul encouraged Timothy to take a little wine for his digestion instead of drinking only water.
Man, I would LOVE to have tasted the wine Jesus changed from water!

wine, beer and other Alcohol is not in and of it’s self bad. it is when you become drunk or let it effect your walk with Christ. Proverbs is talking about not controlling yourself. if you drink a little now and then, God’s not going to judge you.

Yup… that’s one of many contradictions in the bible.
