Nebuchadnezzar king was a Babylon king who took over the reign of Jerusalem from Jehoiakim king of Judah with the countenance from God. Daniel was a prophet gifted in dream interpretation during the reign of Nebuchadnezzar king.
Children with no blemish, with wisdom and knowledge were ordered to bring to palace during the time of Nebuchadnezzar king. Daniel and his three friends Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah were chosen to be these children and live in the palace to learn the tongue of Chaldeans. God’s mercies were with the four children that they were given wisdom, knowledge and skill in learning. The king treated them well and provided these children with meat and wine. Daniel did not desire to defile himself, therefore, he requested for pulse and water from the prince of the eunuchs.
One day in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar king, he had a dream that troubled him a lot causing him unable to sleep. He commanded to call all the magicians, astrologers, sorcerers and Chaldeans to interpret his dream. His servants asked Nebuchadnezzar king about his dream but he could not remember. The servants kept on asking but the king refused to tell because he thought the servants just wished to gain time. The king was finally angry and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.
Daniel was told by the captain of guards for what happened. Daniel then went in and desired the king for giving him time so that he would show the king the dream interpretation. Daniel and his friends prayed together for the mercies of the God that would show them the secret of the dream. Thereafter, the secret was shown to Daniel through a night vision.
When Daniel went to Nebuchadnezzar king and he began to interpret the dream. He said the king saw a great image standing before him, whose brightness was excellent. The image’s head was of fine gold; the breast and arms of silver; legs of iron; feet of iron and clay. A stone smote the feet of the image. The whole image turned into fragments and piled up as a great mountain.
Daniel told the king that the golden head represented Nebuchadnezzar king, meaning that the God had already given the king kingdom, power, strength and glory. After his reign, there would be three more kingdoms. The three kingdoms were characterized by the material that made the different parts of the great image. In these days, the God would use a kingdom, which is ever standing to break the three kingdoms.
Nebuchadnezzar king fell upon his face and offered Daniel an oblation and sweet odors as worship. Daniel’s faith in God even with fresh body in the reign of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon was pleased and blessed by the God.
